Stagecoach - Unforgiven - True Grit Comparison

Stagecoach is a classic western because it has the traditional cowboys vs. Indians and the Indians portraited as brutal savages. It also has the hero overcoming challenges, ie: Ringo is a excaped criminal that falls in love with Dallas. A corrupted woman. True Grit on the other hand does have some Indians in it, but they aren't portraited as brutal savages, more of just a lesser being. The Heros in the movie are also overcoming obsticals, Mattie; she needs to obtain the respect or the marshals, and Rooster just has weird problems ingeneral.

Unforgiven is a revisionist western because has more darker and cynical aspects such as the cowboy slashing the girls face and the sheriff beating up English Bob. True Grit has a slight hint of a thing going on with Mattie and LaBoef which is just creepy also the Marshalls have a lot more power. The girl has a more strong roll also. The indians are given a more calm role and makes us feel sympathetic for them.

In my opinion True Grit is a classic western because it has more elements as classic than in revisionist. Some examples are the heros are overcoming an obstical, the hero doesn't want to be the hero and it is taken place in the middle of nowhere.
